* Holds Career Talk and Ethical Reorientation Session
The Dr. Blessed Udo-Ekpo Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to improving access to education for underprivileged students across Akwa Ibom State, has donated 1,000 copies of customized exercise books to students of Independence High School, Ukana, in Essien Udim Local Government Area.
The donation, which took place on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, formed part of the Foundation’s ongoing three-day sensitization and free book distribution campaign, targeting schools within Uyo and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial Districts.
Receiving the Foundation’s team, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Mfon George Udoh, a recipient of the Governor’s Award of Excellence, expressed deep appreciation for the gesture. She noted that many students in rural communities face challenges in purchasing learning materials.
“In a rural area such as this, most students rely on their teachers to buy books for them. So, for Dr. Blessed Udo-Ekpo Foundation to come here and distribute customized exercise books means a lot to them,” she said.
Mrs. Udoh added that the combination of a career talk and ethical reorientation session before the distribution exercise was particularly impactful.
“As their mother and grandmother, I’m grateful to Dr. Blessed Udo-Ekpo Foundation. The students thought that after the career talk and ethical reorientation session, no books would come. Seeing you visit their classes to distribute books filled them with joy,” she said.
Also speaking, the Vice Principal, Mrs. Mercy Charles, thanked the Foundation for its benevolence and encouragement toward students’ learning.
In his remarks, the Assistant Compound Master, Mr. Godfrey Timothy Udoka, described the donation as a divine intervention and an answer to prayers.
“This is the opportunity we’ve been praying for. It shows that God is at work because it takes the grace of God for someone to assist others,” he said.
He further added that the world would be a better place if more individuals and organizations emulated the kindness demonstrated by the Foundation.
“If everyone can act like the Dr. Blessed Udo-Ekpo Foundation, the world will indeed be a better place to live,” he remarked.
The event featured a career talk, an ethical reorientation session, and the distribution of exercise books to students across various classes.
